THE LIGHTING OF THE TREE
We are about to turn the lights on! Finch Hatton is lighting up this Christmas with a large civic Christmas tree and streetscape lighting. Dignitaries, as well as members of local associations and societies will be invited to the launch on Sunday December 1st, 2019.
It is approximately 45 km from Mirani to Eungella and lighting up in concert is a worthy project to consider and build in the coming years.
2020 will see the 30th anniversary of the closing of the Cattle Creek Mill in the centre of Finch Hatton. In those heady days last century, Finch Hatton boasted several hotels, a cinema and bakery to name just a few of the establishments. Dances were held on a weekly basis and provided entertainment for the whole area.
Shining a light on our region
Bringing a little festive life and light back to the region, our first small step is the LIGHTING OF THE TREE. We'd be thrilled if you'd join in this and many more steps along the way - Shining a friendly light on our valued region.
The erection and decoration of the civic Christmas Tree will commence during the last week of November. Solar lights will decorate the nature strip between Zahmel and Peoples Street and powered lights are to be erected on the business side of Mackay Eungella Road. Permits have been approved.
Folks will be gathering at the Criterion Hotel for get togethers, so pencil it into your calendar and tee up some friends for a lovely kick-off to the Festive Season. See you there!
